Patience is a Virtue: The Ultimate Superpower | Motispiker
My parents always told me that patience is a virtue. They said I should practice it every day to be successful in life. At the time, it sounded strange to me. I didn’t understand why it was so important. Then one day, my neighbor shared a real-life experience with me that changed my mind.
Here is his story:
A few years ago, I started a job in the pharmaceutical industry. I was working in the dermatology division. It was a brand-new department, so we had to start our sales from zero. Even though there wasn’t much competition in that field, building a new business from the ground up is very difficult.
I followed my daily routine and worked hard. A few doctors started supporting me, and I made some sales, but the numbers weren’t where I wanted them to be. I felt frustrated and was looking for a big breakthrough.
I decided to focus all my energy on a few top doctors. I visited them regularly to introduce my products. I felt that I specifically needed the support of a doctor named Dr. Bobby. She was a young doctor, but she was very professional and mature. I really liked the way she handled her work.
I started visiting her every two weeks, but nothing happened. I then increased my visits to once a week for a full month. Still, there were no results. I really wanted her to start prescribing our products, but it just wasn’t happening.
One day, my bosses came to work with me. During our meetings, we visited Dr. Bobby. After we left her office, my bosses told me, “If you can get Dr. Bobby on board, it will be a huge success for you.” That was the moment I decided I wouldn’t give up
I started visiting her twice a week. After just a few of these visits, she finally agreed to try one of our products! I was so happy, but I soon realized that nothing in life comes easy.
Even though Dr. Bobby started writing prescriptions, the local pharmacy didn’t have the product in stock. The pharmacist wasn’t interested in ordering it. Patients would go to the pharmacy, find out the medicine wasn’t there, and go back to complain to the doctor.
Eventually, Dr. Bobby went to the pharmacy herself and told them, “I need Q-Lite in stock no matter what.” It took about two weeks, but finally, the product was available. My boss gave me a lot of praise for making it happen. I noticed that Dr. Bobby was now prescribing Q-Lite to almost every patient.
Because I stayed patient and kept working, I finally succeeded. That success gave me so much confidence! Dr. Bobby’s support helped me meet half of my sales targets on its own, and I finally felt relaxed.
After hearing my neighbor’s story, I finally understood what my parents meant. I realized that patience is a virtue that everyone needs if they want to reach their goals in life.
How Patience is Your Ultimate Superpower?

When you pause your emotions and control your impulse to react immediately, you gain a massive avantage over the environment around you. In a world of instant gratification, being patient is actually an incredible strategic skill. Delayed gratification always give you a sufficient time to control the environment around you.
How patience is considered a modern-day superpower:
Your Inner Strength
Patience regulates your emotions where as impatience allow you to remain in aggressive mode. Most people get angry or stressed when things go wrong. Their “battery” drains because they are fighting reality.
Patience acts as a shield that allows you to take a breath and say, “I can handle this.” When others loose their cools, you keep your energy in that keeps you strong and focussed.
You See the Bigger Picture
Suppose two friends are planting a garden, one impatient and the other is patient. Impatient will dig up and check everyday or even every 12 hours, if the seeds are growing, they will die. The one who is patient, knows very well it will take time.
Patient people know that the great things take time. Whether it’s learning a new skill, building dreams, saving money, patience let’s you stay in the game to see the end line. You don’t quit just because you know results are not showing up on one day.
You Make fewer Mistakes
Patience offers you to remain calm, composed, and focused. You notice everything that happen around you. Remember the last time when you rushed to send a text or make a choice because you were in hurry. You probably regretted it later.
Most mistakes are made in a state of urgency. Patience gives you the gift of the “Golden Pause.” Extra 10 seconds of thinking can save you from making the months of efforts for fixing a mistake. This is the difference between reacting like a firecracker and responding like a professional.
It Makes you better Leader
People follow someone who remains calm during strom. If your parents or boss panic, everyone in your family or organisation panics.
When you practice patience, you become a “safe harbor” for others. You listen better and make choices based on the logic instead of anger. This earns you a lot of respect.
Relationship Depth
Quality connections require time to build trust and understanding, they can not be “hacked” or fast-tracked. One lady waited for 9 years to get her love of life. Her husband was in a confusion that she and her family cheated him to get married with that person.
After nine years when husband met with an accident that caused him serious injuries. Lady served and took care of him all the time like a nurse to stand again. After that her husband realized that he has done a biggest mistake in confusion.
