Have you ever heard the name of Yadav Payeng? He earned affectionate title ‘India’s Forrest Man’ for his tireless work in reforesting barren land. Yadav Payeng is a man from Assam (A State in India).
At age of 16, he became witness of a disastrous flood in his area which caused heavy distruction everywhere. Everything was turned into a barren land. Yadav was very sad for whatever happened.
He decided to do something to recover. He started planting trees. Every morning he used to come and water all of these plants. Days turned into weeks and weeks into the months and so on. Then butterflies and birds started visiting these trees. Later on other animals like elephants, lions, monkeys and so on. He turned 1380 acres of land into a a dense forrest.
